Tomorrow is my son's 6th birthday. I asked him what kin do cake he wanted and what color frosting and he said rainbow cake with blaick frosting. Having no idea how to make black frosting, i told him Green is the best I could do. So there are too many shades of green in this photo. Counter, plate, mixer and frosting. Green isnt even my favorite color, if you would belive it.
I like this with all the green, I also like the inclusion of the cake in the background, although I do wish you had gone a bit higher to exclude the bit that goes off the edge of teh countertop.
ReplyDeleteI tried to make black icing before. All the colours in the food colouring box together, with more blue. It came out muddy purple, but I just told him it had to do.
Fun photo but could have used a different perspective and crop.
ReplyDeleteI thought green WAS your favorite color! I agree different angle would have looked better - but this is still a great shot with the cake in the background waiting to be frosted :)
ReplyDeleteYum! No idea how to make black frosting..... You probably have to go to a specialty or party shop and get black dye.
ReplyDeleteI agree about cropping so we can see off the counter. The perspective if fine, I think, if you just crop more. My eye gets drawn to the right place. Makes me want to stick my finger in it and taste! ;)
In bakeries here, black and other very dark coloring is typically sprayed on because it takes so much colorant otherwise. Green was an excellent choice!
ReplyDeleteThis is so clever. What beautiful green icing. I like that you included the cake.
ReplyDeleteGreen frosting in a green machine and a cake on a green plate on a green work area.
ReplyDeleteWell of course, I'll bet you are going to have the incredible hulk over to eat it all, right?

ReplyDelete(it's not easy being green)
But I love all this shades of green, it fits your theme.
This is really nice, but the teal cloth just keeps tugging at my eyes.

I love the color and think a tighter crop would have made it even better. You really don't need the very top of the mixer in this shot, just focus on the action.
